Merci ! The King Face-of-Mirror At the time of Lord Buddha Siddhartha, in India, there were momentous debates held among philosophers and monks. One day, the King Face-of Mirror, called all the scientists of his kingdom and put on a puzzle before them about the meaning of life. The scientists arrived and no sooner they heard the question by the King they started quarrelling, every one arguing in his own way, shouting: -I know what is true; all the rest is untrue/mistaken! The King roared with laughter then orders his minister to bring all the blind people by birth that he could find in his palace .The minister obeyed the kings order. This time the King ordered to bring an elephant. The blind people were taken to the elephant. One of the blinds took the tail , another the stomach , another the flank, another the back , another the ear , another the head , another the tusk , another the trunk and so on. The minister now brought the blind people to the King. The King asked the group of blind people: -Have u ever seen an elephant? - Yes, completely! Answered the blind -What does an elephant look like? The one who had touched the leg answered: -It looks like a big varnished pipe. -No at all! Answered the one who had taken the tail, it's like a broom. -It’s like a ball said the on who had touched the root of the tail. -It's like a drum, exclaimed the one who had felt the stomach. -No it's like a wall, claimed the one who had touched the flank. -It's a high and tall table, assured the one who had felt the back. -It’s a basket claimed the one who had taken the ear. -No it's a bushel???? Said the one who had touched the head. -It's a horn replied the one who had touched the tusk . The one who had touched the trunk said it's a rope. The King convene the scientists, laughing ”You are like these blind , You think you know all although you have just seen a point and on top of that you show that all the rest is untrue." Merci encore !
