Caractéristiques physiques :

Le dogue allemand appartient au groupe 2.  Il allie puissance et élégance. Il est à peu près aussi long que haut. La tête est expressive et bien ciselée, un stop bien marqué et des babines bien arrondies. L’encolure et longue et galbée. La poitrine est bien développée. Le poil est court. Il existe 4 couleurs : bleu, noir, fauve, bringé et arlequin.
Les mâles mesurent entre 80 et 90 cm pour 70 à 90 kg. Les femelles entre 72 et 85 cm pour 50 à 70 kg. La démarche et les allures sont souples et aériennes.
