I'm going to use a few documents that deal with myths and heroes. My first document will be an extract of Martin Luther King speech. Then I will use a picture of Martin Luther King during his famous speech "I Have a dream" to illustrate that notion. Finally, I will use a picture of the movie "Dances with wolves".
The United States is a mythical country. Everything looks more beautiful, everybody would like to visit or to stay there. It's the American Dream ! Of course, this myth has his heroes. In our time, we know Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States. But how we define and recognize a myth and a hero ? In fact, the myth is often made of legendary stories represented by heroes. The heroes are always idealized like um.. Spiderman. But all the myths are not imaginary. In the real life, we know some heroes, some myths. A hero act like a role model for people. He has a great impact on the society. Joseph Campbell said "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself".
For instance, Martin Luther King was an activist in the United States, for the black civil rights, for peace and against poverty. His speeches had a real power on the society as his most famous speech "I have a dream" pronounced in Um... 1963, during the March on Washington D.C. That mythical speech gave hope and strength to African-American men and women. He had a dream that one day, "little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers." He wished equality, justice and freedom for everybody. One year later, in 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through non-violence. In a way, he made history !
On my second document, the picture of Martin Luther King during his "I have a dream" speech, we can see clearly love and support around him, he salutes the crowd and the crowd watch him with admiration. A hero he's always admired. Martin Luther King was killed in Er... 1968, only 5 years after his "I Have a dream speech". Sometimes, we say that a shocking death confirms the myth.
Finally, my last document is a picture of the movie "Dances with wolves". On the middle, we can see a man, John Dunbar, bringing an injured woman. He walks alone in front of the Indians, his enemies. He looks like an hero because he saved a woman, he looks courageous and strong. As Martin Luther King, he takes risks. But Dunbar is not real, he's a um.. fictional hero of a movie.
So, a hero is someone who help the world, the people... A hero is very courageous, he takes risks and he's non-violent. Well... He can be unreal like John Dunbar or real like Martin Luther King. Their fights are myths because, somehow, they changed the world.

Bonjour,

J'aimerai, si c'est possible, qu'on me corrige mon texte suivant sur le thème ''Myths and heroes" pour l'oral d'anglais de L. Merci beaucoup, c'est important

Bonjour,

I'm going to use a few documents that deal with myths and heroes. My first document will be an extract of from Martin Luther King’s speech.-L’extrait est tiré du discours = provenance, pas possession = from, pas of.

Then I will use a picture of Martin Luther King during his famous speech "I Have a dream" to illustrate that notion. Finally, I will use a picture of the movie "Dances with wolves".

The United States is a mythical country. Everything looks more beautiful, everybody would like to visit or (to) stay there. It's the American Dream ! Of course, this myth has his its heroes. In our time In this day and age/These days/ Nowadays, we know Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States. But how can/do we define and recognize a myth and a hero ? In fact, the myths are often made of legendary stories represented by heroes. The Heroes are always idealized like um.. Spiderman. But all the myths are not imaginary. In the real life, we know some heroes, some myths. A hero acts like a role model for people.

That mythical speech gave hope and strength to Afro-American men and women. He had a dream that one day, "little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers." He wished equality, justice and freedom for everybody. One year later, in 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating/fighting racial inequality through non-violence. In a way, he made history !

On my second document, the picture of Martin Luther King during his "I have a dream" speech, we can see clearly love and support around him, he salutes the crowd and the crowd watch him with in admiration. A hero he's is always admired. Martin Luther King was killed in Er... 1968, only 5 years after his "I Have a dream speech". Sometimes, we say that a shocking death confirms the myth.

Finally, my last document is a picture of the movie "Dances with wolves". In the middle we can see a man, John Dunbar, bringing an injured woman. He walks alone in front of the Indians, his enemies. He looks like an hero because he saved a woman, he looks courageous and strong. a devant un nom commençant par un son-consonne (ou un h aspiré) vs an devant un nom commençant par un son-voyelle ou un h muet. As Martin Luther King, he takes risks. But Dunbar is not real, he's a um.. fictional movie hero of a movie.

So, a hero is someone who helps the world, the people... A hero is very courageous, he takes risks and he's non-violent. Well... He can be unreal like John Dunbar or real like Martin Luther King. Their fights are myths because, somehow, they have changed the world.
