Faites des phrases en utilisant des pronoms relatifs à partir des propositions suivantes :

1. They were good children/ their only distraction was playing in the woods and on the beaches.

RÉPONSE: They were good children whose only distraction was playing in the woods and on the beaches.

2. He said he had always lived here/ it was true.

RÉPONSE: He said that he had always lived here wich was true.

3. He now works in a nearby town/ the mayor is an old friend of mine.

RÉPONSE: He now works in a nearby town whose mayor is an old friend of mine.

4. Every afternoon he walks on the beaches./ He loves the beaches so much.

RÉPONSE: Every afternoon he walks on the beach that he loves so muche.

5. That girl was my childhood sweetheart/ I am talking about that girl.

RÉPONSE: That girl, whom I'm talking about, was my chilhood sweetheart.

Complétez les phrases suivantes en mettant les expressions verbales entre parenthèses au temps approprié (simple ou en be +-ing ):

• (You/ever/wonder) what it (be) like to live in France in 1941?

RÉPONSE: Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in France in 1941? <Present perfect = have/has + participe passé.

• He (read) that book for hours and (seem not) to want to stop.

RÉPONSE: He <was> has been reading that book for hours and doesn't seem<s> to want to stop.

• How long (you/stare) blankly on that page? I (never/see) anyone so slow!

RÉPONSE: How long will you stare blankly on that page? I've never seen anyone so slow! OK

• I (just see) his mother, she (take) her decision yet.

RÉPONSE: I've just seen his mother, she <was taking> hasn't taken her decision yet.

• I (meet) her family a week ago. I (come across) them by chance in the park

RÉPONSE: I met her family a week ago. I <'ve> came across them by chance in the park.

Et Aussi celui-ci

Traduisez les phrases suivantes en anglais.

1.Le soldat qui est venu les arrêter était très jeune.

RÉPONSE: The soldier who <had> came to arrest them was very young. <C'est le prétérit qui traduit notre passé composé.

2.Ce n’étaient pas les seuls étrangers qui furent emprisonnés.

RÉPONSE: They were not the only foreigners who <had been> were imprisoned. <Prétérit passif.

3.C’était le seul village qu’ils connaissaient.

RÉPONSE: It was the only village that they knew. <Sois donc plus attentive au temps.

4.Je recevais régulièrement ses lettres sans lesquelles j’aurais été vraiment déprimé.

RÉPONSE: I regularly received her letters without which I would have been really depressed. OK

5.Le garçon avec lequel je partageais mes jeux d’enfant est devenu journaliste.

RÉPONSE: The boy with whom I used to share my chilhood games has become a journalist. OK
